About the Event

This course, taught by Paul Wesley Chilcote, a Methodist theologian, is based on the four major themes in his book, Active Faith. The aims of the course, and desired learning outcomes, are:

  • to study and engage practices that sustain faith and cultivate peace
  • to experience the importance of community, relationships, and discipleship to life in Christ
  • to identify dangerous contemporary ideologies that bring harm to the church and others
  • to develop a practical plan to implement points of learning from the course

This four-week short course is intended for pastors and lay leaders in parish settings and church leaders in general, those interested in exploring the intersection of discipleship and current social concerns, and those who seek to enhance their faith journey through the season of Lent. Students will undertake this course during a period of four weeks in November 2022 by means of an online synchronous format (sessions will be recorded).
